About SAGE Counselling Centre
SAGE Counselling Centre is a non-profit and non-religious Social Service
Agency. We aim to enhance the total well-being of the older persons, their
family members and caregivers with a special focus on their psychological
and social aspects of their health. We strive to address the changing needs of
senior citizens in the community, not just for the needy and lonely to achieve
better quality of life, but also for the able-bodied and healthy to lead
fulfilling lives, engaging in lifelong learning and active ageing.
Mental Health Services for the Elderly
in Singapore
Mental health services for the elderly include hospital-based psychiatric care and community-based counselling and support services. While hospitals provide specialist care, many older persons and caregivers may be unfamiliar with mental health concerns or feel hesitant about seeking help in clinical settings. As a result, emotional or psychological difficulties are sometimes kept private, even when support could be helpful earlier on.
Community-based services offer an alternative that feels less intimidating. As a specialised counselling care centre focused on seniors, SAGE provides emotional, psychological, and social support in a compassionate space where older persons can speak openly without fear of judgement. Our services support individuals and caregivers facing concerns such as loneliness, grief, anxiety, or caregiving stress. Care is delivered with attention to accessibility, confidentiality, and respect, allowing seniors to seek support in ways that feel safe, familiar, and aligned with their daily lives.
Therapy & Psychological Support
for Senior Citizens
Counselling, therapy, and psychological support offer different forms of structured assistance for older persons, ranging from guided conversations to more focused support for emotional and social concerns. Counselling provides an avenue for seniors to talk through issues and life transitions, while therapy and psychological support offer additional structure to help individuals understand emotional responses and manage ongoing challenges.
At SAGE Counselling Centre, these counselling services are provided through face-to-face sessions that recognise the realities of ageing, including changing family roles, caregiving demands, and personal transitions. Support is extended to older persons, caregivers, and family members who require a structured avenue to discuss concerns that may affect daily functioning or relationships. The approach is paced and appropriate to later life, ensuring that discussions remain respectful and confidential. By offering a consistent and reliable setting for dialogue, SAGE enables individuals to address personal, social, or psychological matters in a manner that aligns with their circumstances and needs.
Addressing the changing needs of
senior citizens in the community
As Singapore’s population ages, many older persons experience changes that may affect their emotional and social well-being. Feelings of isolation, grief, anxiety, or stress related to health and caregiving responsibilities may emerge gradually and are often carried quietly. When suitable avenues for expression are limited, these concerns can remain unaddressed for long periods. Accessible and community-based mental health support is therefore essential.
SAGE Counselling Centre provides appropriate avenues for older persons to seek support early, including free counselling for elderly individuals who require assistance. Our services aim to ensure that seniors are not left to manage these challenges alone, and that support remains available to their circumstances.
